Volunteer call-out - Street Fashion Workshops this May & June

We need your help to form a small team of textile enthusiasts! If you have basic sewing skills then this is a great opportunity to develop your skills and be part of something unique in Sleaford.

The National Centre for Craft & Design (NCCD) is delighted to host a series of free printmaking Street Fashion workshops taking place this May. Running alongside our Roof Gallery exhibition JELLY: Street Fashion by Dave Bramston, schools and families are invited to take part in a series of free printmaking workshops run by the designer from 21 May– 1 Jun. Participants will be able to create a print using recycled objects which will then be made into a garment and form part of a community fashion show held on Friday 15 June, 4-5pm at NCCD which everyone is invited to attend.

We require a small team of textile enthusiasts to help us make the community textile prints into simple wearable garments for the community fashion show. Led by Dave Bramston and Sarah Elliott, volunteers will use a pattern provided to cut, sew and create A-line dresses. Volunteers can showcase their existing skills and develop new ones whilst meeting new people and getting involved in a project that will have a long-term legacy. Garments will be displayed at NCCD before permanently forming part of the Street Fashion project which will be presented in China in 2018-19. Sarah Elliott will be running free pattern cutting and making sessions for volunteers at NCCD on the following dates from 10am – 4pm:

Thurs 24th May

Friday 25th May

Thursday 31 May

Friday 1 June

Saturday 2 June

Thursday 7th June

Volunteers are also invited to book in and use the workshop to create garments for this project from 24 May – 15 Jun (10am – 4pm) providing that they have been on at least one session with Sarah to begin with. Please contact Lucy Lumb to book a session. JELLY: Street Fashion exhibition will be open to the public in our fourth floor Roof Gallery from Sat 5 May to Sun 17 Jun 2018.
