This coming March Second Sitters are hosting Upholstery: A Comfortable Future?

This one day symposium is an opportunity to listen to and exchange ideas and stories around the craft of upholstery in an informal and informative way.

The Symposium takes place within the touring exhibition Upholstery: Evolution to Revolution. at the National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

Ticket price includes lunch and refreshments. Please let us know in advance of any special dietary requirements.

The Day

10am - Gallery opens

10.30am - Welcome registration/tea and coffee

10.50am - Second Sitters does Pecha Kucha

11am - Future Proofing the Industry

Hosted by journalist Grant Gibson. An hour of discussion focussing on the changes and the challenges of the independent upholsterer - how the industry has changed and what the implications are for the future of the craft. What is upholstery? / Who are the upholsterers? / How do we work? / How are we taught? / How are we governed?

A series of 10 minute stories with Q&A by an eclectic mix of inspiring and informative speakers.

Taking your product to market / designing your brand / branding yourself / working with a gallery / promoting and selling your work online.

  • Bryony Windsor - Head of Exhibitions at the NCCD.
