Exhibit with us

We were absolutely blown away by the entries to our open exhibition NCCD Art Club earlier in the year. So much so that we want you to get creative again and submit entries for a brand new Art Club.

NCCD Art Club: Take 2 is inspired by our theatre design exhibition, Staging Places by The Society of British Theatre designers and includes three themes; A sense of place, Costumes and Wonder.

We would love to see as many entries as possible for NCCD Art Club: Take 2 and once again the exhibition is open to all disciplines and art forms.

Below you can find an entry form and guidelines and an outline of each of the themes.

Deadline for all entries is Fri 11 Dec.

Theme 1 - A Sense of Place

Performance designers invent imaginary worlds and extraordinary environments. Performance design today can take place anywhere and is not confined to theatre buildings.

Do you have a special or memorable place? How would you capture and share with others what that place means to you? What is special about it?

Take inspiration from the following artists in Staging Places: Abby & Alice, David Shearing, Nerissa Cargill Thompson, Soutra Gilmour and Laura Ann Price.

Theme 2 - Wonder

Staging Places showcases performance designers who create a sense of wonder in their work to inspire and excite their audience.

What inspires wonder in you? What does wonder feel like to you? How would you interpret this?

Take inspiration from the following artists in Staging Places: Kathrina Radeva, Jon Bausor, Ian Macneil and Shizuka Hariu.

Theme 3 - Costumes

For many productions it is the costumes that create a sense of place. Their role can drive a production’s aesthetic and challenge us to question our assumptions about body, gender and identity.

Think about how you and others dress for different roles in your/their lives? How can particular costumes take you to another time, era and place?

For this entry you don’t have to make a costume. The theme can be interpreted in any medium.

Take inspiration from the following artists in Staging Places: Alex Rigg, Belli & Belli, Andrea Carr and Tim Meacock.
