We are delighted and relieved to announce that we have been successful in our bid in the second round of Cultural Recovery Fund awards.

Having received a grant of £56,986, NCCD is one of 2,700 organisations who are benefitting from the Culture Recovery Fund, which is designed to assist organisations to recover and reopen.

The purpose of this funding is for cultural venues, such as NCCD, to invest in staff, training, and equipment, allowing us to reopen the doors to our newly refurbished centre safely over the coming weeks and months.

Investing in a thriving cultural sector at the heart of communities is a vital part of helping the whole country to recover from the pandemic. These grants will help to re-open theatres, concert halls, and museums and will give artists and companies the opportunity to begin making new work.

We are grateful to the Government for this support and for recognising the paramount importance of culture to our sense of belonging and identity as individuals and as a society.

Sir Nicholas Serota

Chairman of Arts Council England

Following a year of disruption, closures and cancellations, this grant presents the opportunity for our team, all of those we work with, our audience and visitors to look forward to a brighter Spring and Summer with NCCD.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has worked with and supported us during this incredibly difficult time, as we have adapted to deliver as much of our programme online or in a Covid safe way.

Despite the incredible challenges that we have all faced over the past 12 months, we are incredibly proud of our team who have evolved and adapted to ensure that we have continued to provide a lively and engaging creative programme of arts, crafts and dance through workshops, exhibitions, and participatory sessions.

The National Centre for Craft & Design is enormously grateful to receive an award from the second round of Culture Recovery Funding. The grant provides vital support to help us re-open safely and re-build and revitalise our creative programmes. We are really looking forward to welcoming back our local community and visitors to a newly refurbished Centre in May 2021. With fabulous new exhibitions, events, and facilities, NCCD is proud to play its part in inspiring, uplifting and supporting everyone to recover and look to better times ahead.

It has been such a difficult time for everyone, and we want to thank our local community, artists, partners, and team for all their hard work and support over the last year. And thank you DCMS and Arts Council England, we can’t wait to re-open our doors and see you all again soon!

NCCD Director
